The Australian Blue Ensign was a design chosen in a national competition in 1901 which attracted 30,000 entries.

The flag comprises of the Union flag in the upper left corner (also known as the canton), directly beneath and centred in the lower left quarter is the 7 pointed Commonwealth Star or Star of Federation with each point representing the six states and the combined territories of the Commonwealth. The seventh point was added in 1909. Occupying the top & lower right fly end of the flag is a 5 star formation of the Southern Cross, the distinctive and significant navigational constellation feature of the southern hemisphere visible in the night skies south of about 30 degrees N latitude.

These printed flags are made of 130 denier lightweight trilobal fabric and offer lustrous beauty, excellent wear and 'fly ability' even in the slightest of breezes. Completed with double stitch hems and white header tape with short loops at the top & bottom.
